A steady presence on our board

Lauderhill plumbing, built around a former golf course

Much of Lauderhill grew up around the Inverrary golf development that opened in 1970, leaving a dense ring of association-run condos and villas from the 1970s and 80s. The city runs its own water treatment plant for all of it.

Q.

Why does so much of Lauderhill’s housing run through an association?

Because of how the city grew. Inverrary, the golf-course development that opened here in 1970 with two Robert Trent Jones Sr. courses, drew a wave of condo and villa construction around it through the 1970s and into the early 1980s, most of it built to be managed by a board rather than sold as standalone single-family lots. The golf club itself closed permanently in 2020, but the buildings it drew are still the bulk of the city’s housing stock.

That building era matters for us in two ways: the plumbing itself is old enough that original supply line is a real possibility, and reaching it usually means clearing an association step first. Lauderhill treats its own water rather than buying it from a neighboring system, so the utility side of a job stays consistent citywide even as the buildings themselves vary block to block.

LAUDERHILL, SPECIFICALLY

What a golf-course-era city means for a service call

The specifics that shape how a Lauderhill estimate gets written.

A dense ring of 1970s-1980s association buildings

Much of the city’s housing near the old Inverrary golf development was built to be board-managed from the start, so access and shared-line rules are a normal part of scheduling here.

The city runs its own water treatment plant

Lauderhill treats and distributes its own water citywide rather than buying it from Broward County or a neighboring city, which keeps the utility side of a job consistent.

Building age skews older than the surrounding suburbs

With a meaningful share of the housing dating to the early 1970s, checking for original supply line is one of the first things we do rather than an afterthought.

Sections we already know

Lauderhill communities that come up by name

Three sections tied to the same 1970s golf-course development.

  • Inverrary

The original 1970 golf-course development, now a mix of condo and villa buildings old enough that original supply pipe is a real possibility.

  • Isles of Inverrary

A five-story condominium complex completed in 1981, board-run, where a repair on a shared line needs sign-off before anything opens up.

  • Hills of Inverrary

A gated cluster of townhomes and villas dating to 1971, two pools on site and several units still on their original plumbing generation.

Questions we get in Lauderhill

Before you call

Why is so much of Lauderhill’s housing condos and villas?

It grew up around the Inverrary golf development that opened in 1970, and most of the construction that followed through the 1970s and early 80s was built as board-managed buildings rather than standalone houses.

Does Lauderhill buy its water from Broward County?

No. The city runs and treats its own water through its own plant, so service here doesn’t depend on a neighboring city’s system.

Should I expect older plumbing in a Lauderhill unit?

Often, yes, especially near the original Inverrary development. A meaningful share of that stock dates to the early 1970s, old enough that original supply line is worth checking before larger work is planned.

Will my condo or villa association need to sign off first?

In a lot of Lauderhill’s older communities, yes, particularly for anything touching a shared line. Let dispatch know your community so that step can be arranged ahead of time.

Who issues plumbing permits in Lauderhill?

The City of Lauderhill Building Department does, for most repipes and water heater swaps. Filing that paperwork is a normal part of how we run the job, not a separate errand for you.
